Days & Knights: A New Introduction For Admitted Students
As many of us know, Arcadia is very committed to student life on campus. There are always fun events going on around campus such as all the different kinds of bingo nights we have, as well as the different kinds of movie nights we have. But where do we get to learn all about these fun activities as a newcomer? Well, the first event for incoming students just happened to pass us by right before spring break. This year Admissions introduced a new event called Days & Knights.
This event is a lot more information-based for new incoming students. Similar to Scarlet & Grey Day, you still have different sessions you can attend to get the information you need but there just are not as many different activities going on at the same time. I know that when I went to my Scarlet & Grey event I was just so overwhelmed by everything that was going on that I did not get to do everything I wanted. I think it’s great that we kept it a little more separate this year as well. Days & Knights was just a great way for students to get to know the academic side of Arcadia more. There were different classes, like a poetry course that helped introduce the new students to what a seminar looks like at our university. We will still have a Scarlet & Grey Day on April 7, which I highly encourage any current students to go to just to help the new students feel more welcome. There will also be food trucks if that helps.
Another great addition that we introduced during Days & Knights are different types of tours being offered. Obviously during events tours will not be as detailed as a normal tour would be, but it is still nice to join one if you are already on campus.
- The first tour we offer is a general tour. A student can expect to be walked around campus and get information about different buildings around campus. Student Ambassadors like to highlight academic buildings as well as places students like to hang out during these types of tours. There also is a part of that tour where they go into a room in one of our residence halls just so families know what it is like to live on campus.
- The second tour option that is provided is a residence tour where the group is taken to different housing options on campus. The three room types that are shown off during this tour are our normal room option, our single room option, and our castle room option as well. This tour is more for families that have already gone on our general tour and want to see what their different options would look like if they did end up living on campus.
- The third and final tour option is the art tour. Since Arcadia is also known for its art programs, we want future students to know what those buildings look like as well as the different events and courses those buildings have to offer.
The week before these events are always very busy for Admissions. All throughout the week they are prepping folders as well as making sure that the schedule is all lined up. They also want to make sure that the campus looks all put together so they like to spruce up the place with decorations. The day of, the entire staff is running around making sure everything goes to plan. Even if it does not, they still pull it off seamlessly all while still having a smile on their face and high energy for the incoming families to welcome them into our Knight family.
