Unique Ways to Get Involved on Campus
You might know Arcadia for its international education opportunities or the beauty of the campus—but do you know how many exciting ways you can be part of the Arcadia community, beyond joining clubs? Here are a few of my favorites.
Academic Research
Before attending Arcadia, you may believe that you won’t have a chance to practice or learn practical applications of your classes until you get a job. But it’s the exact opposite. One of the most amazing things about Arcadia having such a close-knit community and a low student-to-teacher ratio is that you will find opportunities that you never knew existed, including researching with your professor on relevant, real-world topics. This doesn’t mean you are conducting experiments that have been done by previous students or classes. This means you are uncovering the world of science and collecting data that may lead to a huge discovery!
We have exclusive access to Honors classes such as TEDx Arcadia University, Study of Self and Teams, and Craftivism. Each one of these classes shies away from your normal textbook learning and helps us hone our communication skills.

Blogging
One of the most unique jobs you can have on campus is becoming a Because Arcadia blogger and publishing posts like this one! I have been doing this for two semesters now, and I have learned so much about myself, Arcadia, my peers, and even my writing skills. Blogging is a work-study position and comes with experienced professionals critiquing and helping you create the best product possible. It is also an amazing way to give back to the community and share your story with incoming students!
Honors Program
The Honors program is one you must be accepted into. You can either apply in your Arcadia application or after your freshman year, as long as you meet the set requirements. Many people question why they would join a program that would make them take harder classes. This assumption is untrue; Arcadia’s Honors program teaches students how to be leaders and excel in academics, jobs, and their own life. We have exclusive access to Honors classes such as TEDx Arcadia University, Study of Self and Teams, and Craftivism. Each one of these classes shies away from your normal textbook learning and helps us hone our communication skills. Along with this, the Honors program comes with the opportunity to take part in committees such as Adulting 101 and Rocky Horror.
Athletics Walk-Ons and Work Study
Arcadia Athletics is not just for students who were recruited to play a sport. Any person who has an interest in walking on to an NCAA team has the chance to by just emailing the athletic department and coaching staff for a tryout. There are even opportunities to become a manager of a team and help out on the sideline. The plus to this is that it is usually a paid position! If a committed team is not what you are looking for, there is also a chance to take part in volleyball, basketball, corn hole, flag football, and many other intramural leagues.
