Flower Power
After over three months of grey skies and bitter cold, I’ve come down with an incurable malady: spring fever. A nature enthusiast, winter seems longer to me each year. Luckily, I was able to soothe my symptoms of restlessness and gloom at Philadelphia’s 2019 Flower Show. This tradition stretches back to 1829, and the exhibit is the nation’s largest and longest-running horticultural event.
This year, the Flower Show covered over 10 acres. It included landscapes, garden vignettes, floral displays, DIY inspiration, and booths marketing a wide variety of botanically-inspired wares. The displays centered around the 2019 theme, “Flower Power,” by exploring the ability of flowers to spread joy and tranquility. In short, I couldn’t have hoped for a better way to dispel my winter blues!
