Adriana Mateo ’20, PR Officer of the Latino Association
Adriana Mateo ’20 is a sophomore Business major from Florida and public relations officer for the Latino Association. Here, we chat about this unique chapter in her life.
Why did you choose Arcadia?
A: Honestly, Arcadia fulfilled everything on my checklist. It’s a small campus, low student body population, and an impressive Business program.
What made you get involved in the Latino Association?
A: Being a Latina, it felt fitting. Colleges often aren’t as diverse as brochures make them out to be, so I found comfort in being a part of a club where Latinos come together to share our culture, food, and traditions.
What is your favorite college memory so far?
A: The best memory I have made, hands down, would be my experience on Preview. I traveled to Nicaragua’s many cities. Going to the beach was a daily activity. I thought Florida was notorious for their beaches, but Nicaragua had them beat. I met many beautiful, spirited people who challenged me to go ziplining; that was my favorite activity.
What is one thing you would like to share with future Knights?
A: College is what you make it, especially at a small school. If you want great memories, you have to get out of your shell, meet new people, and enjoy every moment. Attend any event that the campus hosts because it makes you feel involved in the community.
