Meet the New HR Interns
The Office of Human Resources has gone into its third year of offering an unpaid internship to students interested in the human resources field. So far, two students have completed a 2-semester long, 8 hour per week internship and this year, the office has doubled the size of the program and accepted TWO new interns!
Dawn Gioia (left) is a junior Business Administration student and will be with the office until May 2019. She will be learning about all the basic functions of a non-profit human resources department and making contributions where possible. Her first semester will be spent focusing on recruitment, learning and development, learning about payroll and other business functions, and learning about the higher education and employment legal compliance environment. Her second semester will focus on learning about benefits and total compensation strategies and completing a small internship ‘capstone’ project in an area of her choosing.
Janvi Bhattad (right) is a senior Business Administration student and comes to us from Arcadia’s partnership with the Global Pathways Institute in India. Janvi will be with the office for the fall semester and will focus on the recruitment function of human resources. She has a particular interest in staffing and event management. Janvi will be learning about the various aspects that go into recruitment, such as searching for candidates, understanding the legal compliance environment and how to work with hiring managers.
We look forward to helping them learn everything we can teach about HR and that it will serve them in their future careers.
