Christopher Brewington ’20, Unity Rally Activist
I’m here today to support all the communities that are harmed by Donald Trump. And I’m here to support myself because I am afraid for what he can and might do. I have a couple friends who are in the LGBT community and they’re scared about their rights, they’re worried about the funding of Planned Parenthood, things like that.
After this election, I’d say the best thing to do as a country is to be civil. The riots may reflect a negative image on our country, and while the rallies bring people together as one to make a stand, it’s really not going to get Trump out of office.
I believe that the rallies on campus will amount to spreading more awareness, but the point I’m trying to make is that more involvement is needed if we really want something to happen. Petitions, writing lots of letters to local governments, these are examples of things we can do. More action is required if we really want to get him out, but riots and violence aren’t the way to go.
