Knight to Know: Josiah Walsh ’24
Hometown: I commute from Quakertown, Pa.
Major: Psychology, Pre-Med
Minor: Neuroscience
Favorite Arcadia Memory: My favorite memories from Arcadia have been the countless conversations with my psychology faculty, not only talking about classes and career development but also getting to know them as individuals. Getting a look into their lives and feeling like I am truly a part of a community through that. Additionally, I cherish the memories of long nights laughing and learning with the friends I have made here at Arcadia. I am beyond blessed to have the people I have met and befriended, students and faculty alike, in my life.
Post-grad Plans/Goals: I am currently interviewing for post-baccalaureate positions at research labs in neuroscience and hope to pursue a PhD in neuroscience in the future. Even though life as a commuter is not the same as it is for those on campus, I have been able to meet and bond with some fantastic people.
At this year’s Honors Convocation, Walsh received The Martha Jean Hill Award. “Josiah is known in the psychology department for his relentless curiosity and questioning spirit,” wrote the faculty who nominated him. “He has taken the lead all year in developing the ideas, methods, and materials for his thesis research study on social belonging and risky decision making. Josiah plans to pursue a doctoral degree in psychology and he’s well-prepared since he’s been functioning like a graduate student all year!”
