Join STAMP
What is STAMP?
STAMP stands for STudy Abroad Mentorship Program (yes, we took some liberties with that extra T, haha!) This program is filled with Arcadia students who loved their study abroad experience and want to
-share with other students who may be interested in studying abroad through one on one mentoring and events
-join a community of like-minded peers who like talking about - or even planning more - travel
-find ways to continue their professional development, networking or leadership
-socialize at the Civic & Global Engagement House with friends who studied abroad
How do I join STAMP?
Students are invited to apply to the program as their semester abroad comes to a close via email. The deadlines are January 5th for start in the spring semester and June 15th for start in the fall semester. If you are interested in being a Study Abroad Mentor but missed the deadline, please email globalengagement@arcadia.edu to see if there are any open spaces available.
What are the qualifications to join STAMP?
Students must:
-be a full time, undergraduate student in good academic and disciplinary standing
-have received a 2.5 or higher GPA during their semester abroad
-have a positive attuitude and passion for study abroad
-be able to commit to 1-3 hours per week to attend events, mentor students, and manage any other responsibilities
What are Study Abroad Mentor responsibilities?
Based on the Tier that you apply to be a part of, responsibilities will vary. The main thing to note is that STAMPs are asked to attend a few mandatory events including the Study Abroad Fair (September), Global Expo (April), Pre Departure Orientations (December and April) and at least one Open House over the course of the year. Other responsibilities may include: attend meetings, support passport applications, participate in social media and video content, connect with assigned mentees.
Tier 1 (All In, Leadership): Executive Board: apply to be on the Executive Board as a Leader/Coordinator, meet bi-weekly, take on additional leadership responsibilities based on interest and interview, lead Study Abroad Fair and Global Expo project teams, take on leadership role in Pre Departure Orientation, attend other events as needed, connect with interested/applying students as needed. (Estimated time commitment 2-4 hours per week). *work study applicable
Tier 2 (Medium Interest and Availability): Community Team: schedule 1-2 hours per week to "work" at the Civic & Global Engagement House (this time slot may include one on one mentoring as needed, passport support, helping with fun projects like videos and social media, or just hanging out and encouraging students to come by) attend social events, and assist with events like the Study Abroad Fair, Global Expo and Open Houses. (Estimated 1+ hour per week). *work study may be applicable
Tier 3: (Interested but Less Availability/ As Needed): On Call: attend mandatory events including Study Abroad Fair, Global Expo, Pre Departure Orientation and at least one Open House, maybe attend social events. (Estimated 4-6 hours total per semester) *no work study applicable
What are the benefits of joining STAMP?
Get Social & Gain Community: meet fellow students who have similar interests as you, make new friends, attend regular social events at the Civic & Global Engagement House including Welcome Back Events, Halloween Pumpkin Painting and Carving, Winter Holiday Party, Spring Get-Together, and an End of Year / Graduation Party!
Leadership and Professional Development: attend our STAMP LABS ("Leadership Advancement & Building Skills"), that take place every other Tuesday from 2:00 - 2:30pm; these sessions will explore topics that you are interested in in an effort to help you make the most of your undergraduate career, navigate next steps like career and graduate school applications, and explore global topics.
