Meet Our Students
"Arcadia’s small class size allowed me to build a relationship with each and every professor where I felt completely comfortable in asking questions or asking for additional help."
A Global Perspective in Business
Our Global Perspective
In the School of Global Business, “global” means more than study abroad—that’s why we emphasize perspectives from around the world, partnerships with international trade organizations, and hands-on experience running simulated companies. Here is a sample of some of the ways the School of Global Business earns its name.
X-Culture: International Business in the Classroom
In the X-Culture program, students from universities around the world collaborate virtually to create business plans, taking on challenges such as international expansion for an Indian entertainment group, a Ghanaian tour business, and a company launching a new food ordering app. In the spring, two of our students were honored as Best Students in X-Culture, and assistant professor of Marketing Raghu Kurtakoti received the title of Best Professor in X-Culture. Learn more about X-Culture.
Hands-on Experience Through Business Simulations
Every year, you have the opportunity to take part in the International Collegiate Business Strategy Competition (ICBSC). During the competition, you and your classmates will discover business challenges, analyze goals, develop strategies, and prepare quarterly reports as you run a simulated business. It all culminates in an annual event in California, where you will meet business executives and students from around the world. In 2016, the Arcadia School of Global Business team was the second runner-up in the final competition. Learn more about ICBSC.
Visiting Scholars
We bring in esteemed faculty from around the world to work with faculty, access facilities, and meet with the community through lectures, events, and classes. The visiting scholars program at Arcadia gives our students the ability to meet, network, and collaborate with global thinkers.
We have had visiting scholars from the following universities:
- Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics
Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province, China—Founded in 1923, Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics (JUFE) is one of the leading universities in economics and management nationwide. JUFE ranks 7th among all the universities of Finance and Economics in China. - Shandong University
Jinan, China—Under the direct jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education, Shandong University is a key comprehensive university with a long history, a variety of disciplines, academic strength, and distinctive characteristics, which has great influence both at home and abroad. Shandong University is a member university of Project 211 and Project 985, two national key construction projects to support the development of high-quality universities.
If you are a professor interested in coming to Arcadia University as a visiting scholar, please contact the Office of International Affairs at 1 (215) 620-4112.
Student Activities
Integrative Learning
Learning takes places outside of the classroom as much as it does in it. And, in the School of Global Business, local and international business leaders will serve as invaluable mentors. With hands-on activities, student groups, and volunteer work, you won’t graduate with just a transcript and a degree—you’ll also have a resume and experience.
Shape the School of Global Business
In the Society for the Advancement of Business Administration (S.A.B.A.), students plan talks with area business leaders, schedule trips to visit employers, and organize social events to bring business students together. SABA members help run all of the activities that students in the School of Global Business do each year.
