Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing alumna Rebekah Coxwell ’19M published her first book, Falling, with Southern Fried Karma Press. A celebratory book launch will take place at Grey Towers Castle in the Rose Room at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 9. 

“Written with vibrant lyrical prose, Falling blends historical literary fiction with a frenzied contemporary tale revealing the unsettling questions that invariably simmer below the surface of all our lives,” as noted on Amazon.com. “Follow an impulsive couple as they search for connection in a paradoxical world. They each are driven to confront cultural barriers and ancestral bonds in their quest for knowledge and their ardent journey toward the solace of love.”

During her time at Arcadia, Coxwell served as an editor for Rothwell Affordable Editing Services, as well as for the literary magazine, Marathon, which includes many of the MFA students. She has published short stories and poetry in The New Southern Fugitives, the Opiate, Bridge Eight, 50 Haikus, Brief Wilderness, and Adelaide Literary, as well as forthcoming work in A Room of Her Own and Midnight and Indigo.

Arcadia University’s low-residency M.F.A. program in Creative Writing emphasizes online workshops; personal attention from faculty; studying abroad, with a residency in Edinburgh, Scotland; and the preparation of both a book-length manuscript and a plan to publish it.

The event is open to Arcadia community members as well as the public. Masks are required.
