First-Year and Transfer Students Prepare for Preview
Nearly 400 first-year and transfer students are preparing to embark on Arcadia University’s 24th annual Preview, a two-credit course and weeklong international experience that provides participants with a taste of study abroad.
This year, 385 students and 35 faculty and staff will spend spring break from March 11 to March 19 in Greece, South Africa, Ireland, Scotland, Austria, England, India, Oman, Vietnam, Japan, China, and Italy, studying specific cultural and historical aspects related to each country. For the first time, Preview will have a Vietnam program, where 24 students will explore the post-Vietnam War relationship between that country and the United States.
Topics for programs this year include music, fashion, art, literature, film, food, history, education, and politics. Classes will share their experiences and findings at the Global Expo, an annual event that celebrates international education.
“Preview was one of the factors in my decision to attend Arcadia,” said Daulton Trout ’20, who will travel to Japan. “It’s a unique experience that not many other first-year students have. I can’t wait to experience the Japanese culture and to explore topics we discussed in class.”
Trout, along with several other students participating in Preview, will showcase their experiences on the University’s Instagram and Snapchat accounts through daily story updates. Follow their adventures: arcadiauniversity on Instagram and ArcadiaU on Snapchat.
