Dan Drutz Appointed Sports Information Director
Arcadia University Director of Athletics Brian Granata has announced the appointment of Daniel J. Drutz as Arcadia’s new Sports Information Director. Drutz will start on Oct. 5.
“I am very excited to welcome Dan to our team at Arcadia,” says Granata. “Dan has a wealth of experience in sports information that spans all three divisions of the NCAA. His energy and vision will be a tremendous addition to our department. This really is a new era for Arcadia Athletics, and I am confident in Dan’s abilities to enhance our sports information offerings.”
In his position, Drutz will oversee all aspects of the Athletics website, serve as the primary media contact for all varsity sports and publicize athletic results, events, and achievements of student-athletes. Drutz will also help coordinate the launch of Arcadia Athletics video webcasting service.
“I am extremely thrilled to be joining the Arcadia family as the new Sports Information Director,” says Drutz. “It’s an exciting time to be at Arcadia and I am looking forward to contributing to the University and helping move our athletics program forward.”
Drutz comes to Arcadia after serving as the Associate Director of Athletics for Communications at Saint Peter’s University (formerly Saint Peter’s College). For the past seven years, Drutz was responsible for all athletic communications, as well as statistics reporting, records maintenance and website maintenance. He also was the sport administrator for men’s soccer, golf, men’s and women’s cross country, softball, as well as indoor and outdoor track.
Previously responsible for marketing and promotional efforts of the Peacock Nation, an athletic booster club turned member-based giving society, Drutz served as the adviser of a connected sports marketing club, designed to help students who aspire for a career in sports, and wass a guest speaker in journalism and marketing classes at Saint Peter’s.
During his first year, Drutz brought national media attention to Saint Peter’s with stories published in USA Today, Sports Illustrated, ESPN the Magazine, the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times, along with stories featured on ESPN, MSG and Fox Sports. More than 100 media outlets covered Keydren Clark and the Peacocks at some point during the 2005-06 men’s basketball season.
Before his position at Saint Peter’s, Drutz served as the Director of Sports Information at Molloy College for five years. While at Molloy, he started the Sports Information Office from scratch, creating a new website and media guides for all sports. Drutz also was a communications intern for the Reading Phillies.
Drutz is an active member of College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), and has recently been named to the organization’s Board of Directors. He has served as a panelist and moderator at the annual workshop for the past 12 years, and was awarded with the University Division “Rising Star” award by the organization in 2010. He also served on the MAAC Baseball Committee.
