Arcadia is #1 in the Country for Undergraduate Study Abroad in 2024 Open Doors Report
Arcadia University ranked first in the nation for undergraduate study abroad participation by percentage among all institutions of its type in the Institute of International Education’s 2024 Open Doors Report.
Four hundred and fifty-six undergraduate students had at least one study abroad experience between fall 2022 and summer 2023. According to the report, this amounted to 118 percent participation due to students studying abroad more than once, student attrition, and varying cohort sizes from year to year.
In addition, Arcadia ranked fifth in the nation for total study abroad participation by institution type, with 583 students studying abroad in the 2022-23 academic year.
Open Doors is a comprehensive information resource on international students and scholars studying or teaching at higher education institutions in the United States, and U.S. students studying abroad for academic credit at their home colleges or universities. Findings on international students and U.S. study abroad are released annually in November, to coincide with International Education Week (Nov. 18-22, 2024).
Arcadia’s rise in the rankings exemplifies the full return of study abroad opportunities post-pandemic. Arcadia held the number one spot for undergraduate study abroad participation the year prior (2018-19) and for 10 of the 12 years before that.
At Arcadia, students can study abroad through Preview, First-Year Study Abroad Experience (FYSAE), Second-Year Study Abroad Experience (SYSAE), and Global Field Study (GFS), as well as semester-long, summer-long, and year-long programs, and graduate international academic experiences.
