Arcadia University’s 1853 Communications and Residents for a Sustainable Cheltenham hosted “Halfway To Earth Day” to engage the Arcadia Community in an event centered around raising awareness about sustainability with a focus on single-use plastics and food waste. It took place on October 22 from 4 to 5 p.m. on Haber Green.

The event featured an information table with materials from Residents for a Sustainable Cheltenham. There was also a craft project to create flowers from plastic water bottles, an interactive game with questions about sustainability, and a raffle with prizes from 1853 Communications. Attendees had access to information about Residents for a Sustainable Cheltenham.

Residents for a Sustainable Cheltenham (R4SC) is a volunteer-based community group that focuses on creating a vision for a more resilient and environmentally friendly township. In their partnership with 1853 Communications, the group aims to aid people in thinking about how everyday uses (i.e. plastic water bottles, food) can impact air and water quality. Teaching principles on how to reduce unnecessary waste is the main purpose of R4SC.
